Custom Roller Derby Uniforms handcrafted in Dover, New Hampshire

  • WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE??

We are the Northeasts newest print, cut and sew jersey manufacturer! When my daughter started roller derby in 2019 I had NO idea how much it would change our lives. During her growth both as a human and as a derby player I couldn't help but be frustrated for the long wait times for her uniforms. Also frustrating was the unshakeable feeling that my business was not important. So my husband and I began talking about starting a jersey company- we saw a huge need and between him and I we have decades of experience with dye sublimation, working with spandex and making garments. We decided to go for it and began creating our company, gathering the equipment and most of all, building our shop. Fast forward to November 2024 and I am sitting in that finished shop writing this up for you! Our goal is to provide the Derby community with the best quality athletic wear in the easiest manner with good turnaround time and excellent customer service - so here we are.

I am Patty. I have a lifetime of experience stitching, and six years experience being frustrated with the lack of communication, quality and service I have gotten elsewhere when buying my jerseys.

My husband is James. He has decades of experience in print, dye sublimation and spandex work.

Together, we are Skate Free or Die.

    We are here to help!

  • PRINT

We print our graphics in-house and dye-sublimate them to fabric on our custom hydraulic sublimation press to obtain the most vibrant crisp graphics possible.

  • CUT

We cut the printed fabric to the correct shape to sew them together all according to our patterns. Doing the cutting in house lets us do full bleed prints as well as create unique items like our custom leg and arm sleeves.

  • SEW

We sew the cut fabric parts together with a number of different sewing and finishing machines to create a great fitting, good looking, long lasting jersey!

If you tear/ ruin/ stretch beyond use a piece of Skate Free or Die apparel please reach out, the gnarlier the better, if it’s a good story we want that item back to frame it and hang it on the wall. If that happens we will of course replace that item for no charge and AND will make you another item with whatever you want printed on it on it as a reward at no cost (we will even cover the shipping!) These stories will be added to the website so only submit stories you would like shared. Why do we do this? Why Skate Free or Die?

Born August 28th, 1728, in Nutfield, New Hampshire, Maj. Gen. John Stark would grow to be a man that fully embodied the words, “Live free or die; death is not the worst of evils.” The “Hero of Bennington” not only lived by these words, he wrote them 136 years before it became New Hampshire’s official state motto.
